We do, eventually and unfortunately, meet with families that have been harmed or wronged by unscrupulous modification companies and mortgage companies. In these instances, we advocate that you file a complaint with the local Police Department, Department of Justice, and Department of Real Estate at a minimum:

If you have been a victim of a mortgage related scam and have supporting documents and evidence of your allegations, we encourage you to take the following steps.

First and foremost, contact the police department in the county your property is located in and file theft charges regarding the loan modification scam and get a case number. You may be able to file this online, otherwise you will have to file in person depending on your County.
